rolling fun

September 24th, 2010|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , |0 Comments

Well I’ve not been posting lately as we’re still ‘getting better’ over here.My little guy didn’t respond well to his first lot of antibiotics so required a blood test and x-ray. Please let us not have to do that again! It was a little heartbreaking to see him have a blood test. The tests confirmed pneumonia, and thus it is highly likely that our little baby girl was suffering from the same, but as she responded to the antibiotics and a small dose of steroids for her lungs she didn’t require anything further. They are both […]

origins of halloween

September 16th, 2010|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: |1 Comment

{image from here}Halloween draws it’s origins in Europe from the Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts believed that on the eve of their New Year (November 1st) the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. It was a time of celebration for the Celts, they would have large bon fires and wear costumes as they made sacrifices to honour and please their deities. In the 400 years that the Romans had power over many Celtic territories (around 43 A.D.) they combined two Roman festivals with Samhain. The two festivals were Feralia and a […]

boo!

September 14th, 2010|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , |1 Comment

i love halloween.i know we live in Australia. But I just love it.I have hosted two Halloween parties since moving here eight years ago. That is not nearly enough. One of the reasons I haven’t hosted as many as I would like is that I am often met with disinterest, or a lot of “I don’t like Halloween”.What is not to like about Halloween? Dressing up, candy & lollies, parties, fun!I don’t really like really scary freaky Halloween. You can make it as kid friendly and age appropriate as you like. Not in to jelly […]

Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oprah Oprah Oprah!

September 14th, 2010|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: |0 Comments

{image from here}Oprah is coming to Australia!I think it’s a great great thing for our country. The exposure we will get is just.huge. {plus I like her}I have heard a bit of negative feedback about it, especially that ‘she is bringing her own audience, what is wrong with an Australian audience?’ but word is there are 3000 seats for us Aussies. So I’m finding it hard to see any downsides to her visit. In case you have not heard all the non stop talk about it since yesterday, you can find all the info here, […]

point & shoot : spring

September 13th, 2010|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , , |9 Comments

It is spring here in Australia, my second favourite season. {I love autumn the most!}I had so much planned for the weekend, it was our wedding anniversary last week and the weather was supposed to be lovely and so I planned a lovely day at home doing some gardening, baking and house stuff on Saturday. And then a trip the markets on Sunday. Instead we stayed home and didn’t do very much at all except try to get medicine into the little monkey and catch up on the washing. These flowers are just so beautiful you […]

just a spoon full of sugar

September 12th, 2010|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: |0 Comments

{image from here}does not help the medicine go down!My little boy, who never ever had an issue with taking any medication required, is being super stubborn about taking the antibiotics he needs. We were told by the doctor that he possibly has pneumonia – so it’s rather important we tackle this. The first time it took us nearly 2 hours, yes HOURS to get him to take the 5ml of medication. On average it has been taking about an hour, with the exception of his dose at lunch time today which took 20 minutes.I […]

keeping track when your kids are sick

September 8th, 2010|Categories: printables|Tags: , |1 Comment

It is still that time of year here in Australia where bugs are going around and around. My little guy has been fighting something on and off for around 8 weeks now. Sniffly with a cough for a couple of days, then fine. Sniffly again a few days later, then fine. His poor little body finally got tired of fending it off and he is not well. My little girl just had her 4 month old immunizations and is also running a slight fever. Keeping track of their temperatures and if any medication was given was getting […]

our father’s day

September 6th, 2010|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , , , , |5 Comments

With our own fathers either in another country or no longer with us, our father’s day was pretty quiet. We stayed home except for a quick trip to Bunnings. {what’s a father’s day without Bunnings, right?}We started the day with Daddy having a sleep-in – believe it or not this is rare for him, he usually lets me sleep in!We made him french toast with freshly whipped cream and strawberries. A good splash of maple syrup {the real stuff} sealed the deal. I found the super cute sign here.Oh.Yum.Our little guy made Dad a tie […]
