anniversary gifts

September 19th, 2011|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: |8 Comments

A couple of weeks ago hubby and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. Usually our gifts to each other are practical in nature. Sometimes we buy each other a gift, sometimes we share in buying one for us. I also have a fun time of trying to think of things that fit within those Anniversary Gift Guides. I refer to this one here.So seeing as the 5th Anniversary gift guide says “Wood”, we bought each other a new buffet. This wasn’t planned – I was going to get him a sander! {haha, well, you use that […]

Lemon Oatmeal Bars

September 15th, 2011|Categories: recipes|Tags: |8 Comments

This is another version of the Oatmeal Bars that we are loving right now, especially as we enter spring time! I was sure it would taste good with lemon so I set about to experiment and it seemed the best way to get the lemon to set was to mix it with condensed milk and a little flour. Well, condensed milk is super sweet! So I use quite a bit of lemon to make this. It’s lovely and fresh and has a good zing to it. It tastes like lemon cheesecake, I am sure you […]

Hi friends! If you have been a reader for a while you’ll know I don’t normally do what I am about to do here. You will also know that I LOVE baking.Today I want to tell you about my new best friend, my Breville Scraper Mixer. My husband bought me this beauty a little while ago and I am IN LOVE. fun with play dough

September 9th, 2011|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , , , , |5 Comments

A few weeks ago I let Noah take his old home made playdough out into the garden. We had had it for a couple of weeks {you can store it in the fridge for quite a while!} or so and it was time for it to go, but before that, I thought why not let him make a real mess of it, stick things in it, make imprints with gumnuts and sticks and all sorts of things. Well didn’t he have the best time! Chloe got into it too, and it kept them occupied […]

our new playroom : beneath the apple tree reading nook

September 7th, 2011|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , , |6 Comments

This is my favourite favourite part of the playroom. I love how it has come together and how it provides a nice cosy spot to read in. Fitting 4 of us in here is a bit difficult, but 3 of us is just perfect. The kids just love it and use it on a daily basis. Chloe doesn’t like the apple cushions however, so she always throws them out before she makes herself comfortable. I have always wanted a reading nook and really wanted to make one for my kiddos. At first we weren’t going […]

our new playroom : the kitchen daddy built

September 5th, 2011|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , |6 Comments

So I have received A LOT of emails about this little kitchen. This was our very first attempt at DIY stuff. It was all because I wanted a wooden kitchen for Noah {this is pre-Chloe!}, and all the wooden ones I could find were either huge, or pink. I wanted my son to have a kitchen to play with {I don’t believe that kitchens are ‘girl’ toys} but I didn’t want to give him a pink one! Finally I found a picture and instructions for a kitchen made from Ikea components. Well, we are Ikea nuts […]

our nice and easy father’s day

September 4th, 2011|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , , |5 Comments

This year we had a  nice and easy Father’s day.My darling husband had his Mum visit for Father’s day which was a lovely treat for all of us. We don’t have any family close by and so it is always lovely to have some visit :o}We started the day with the obligatory jump on Daddy to wake him up and shower him with love and hugs and kisses and gifts. Chloe took great delight in handing Daddy his card. We call her ‘mop’ as you can see her hair is pretty much a mop!Noah made […]

garden make-over : the side of our house

September 2nd, 2011|Categories: A Little Delightful|Tags: , , |9 Comments

Well, we have been living in our ‘new’ house for just over 2 years and the other weekend we finally finished our garden. I call it the laundry side of our house, and it had been left to look like a rubbish tip. Needless to say it was not pleasant to go out and hang clothes on the washing line – and therefore I used my indoor clothes horse a lot {oh, and the dryer}. There’s something about their Mum’s coming to visit that launch husbands into proactive-ness. Not that I’m complaining, because I am […]
