Have you heard of AirBnB? If not, definitely look into it because it’s something that you might be interested in. If you have ever wanted to travel the world, but not have to spend thousands of dollars at expensive hotels for the “touristic experience”, then AirBnB is something to look in to. AirBnB is a website that allows you to search for tons of rooms and apartments all over the world. These places are not owned by companies or businesses, but rather they are owned by hosts who just want to make some money by renting out a room that they have for sale. This seems like a great way to save money, and also a great way to get into contact with the locals. However, there are some hidden dangers that you must aware of when shopping for a room on AirBnB.
As you might guess, staying in a room owned by a random stranger can be kind of shady. Although there haven’t been many more reports of unpleasurable experiences compared to other forms of real estate, you run the risk of having a host that just isn’t that great. Bad hosts are a problem with AirBnB because you might like the room and/or the location, but you can’t stand the person who is renting it to you.
Another thing to watch out for is hidden expenses. Sometimes AirBnB hosts will think that they are expert real estate agents, and will try to milk a little more cash out of you then you anticipated. This is a fairly popular case because often times these hosts will actually own other businesses that will try to get your business. Maybe they won’t let you stay in their room unless you sign up for a certain package that they are selling.
With all the bad things out of the way though, AirBnB can be a great experience. There are some really amazing rooms available, and better yet there are lots of eco-friendly apartments out there as well. You really get to find the right room for you.
