For the seventeenth year, The Fairmont Royal York will set its lobby a glow. Cast members from Disney’s hit Broadway musical, Mary Poppins, now on stage at the Princess of Wales Theatre, will ring in the festive season with the annual tree lighting ceremony.

Toronto’s grand landmark hotel welcomes the holidays with free refreshments and a visit from Santa on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 12 p.m. sharp, through to 12:30 p.m..

This tradition, familiar to many Torontonians, marks the beginning of the holiday season at The Fairmont Royal York and will raise awareness for the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada. Cast members of “Mary Poppins” will sing Christmas carols and a Children Wish Foundation child will light up the 22-foot-tall Christmas Tree.

The festive event is free to the public and it all takes place in the lobby of The Fairmont Royal York, 100 Front St. West, Toronto.

Remembrance Day, The Fairmont Royal York

Melanie Coates on Remembrance Day at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel from our friends at GoodFoodRevolution.

For the 66th year, colleagues of Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York Hotel have been wearing their poppies proudly as the hotel leads up to its annual Remembrance Day ceremony. The public observance is to be held in the lobby of the Fairmont Royal York on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 10:55 a.m. (100 Front St. West, Toronto).

The Fairmont Royal York’s colleagues and guests salute the achievements and sacrifices of our veterans who served our country in times of war during the 20th century. The traditional ceremony includes a memorial display, military music and two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. sharp.

The Fairmont Royal York invites all guests, colleagues and the public to join.

Mr. Denis Radley, a 90-year-old Fairmont Royal York alumni and war veteran, who returned to work at the hotel after serving his country, will join for the lobby observance.

Lieutenant Commander Paul Forget, Commanding Officer HMCS Toronto and members of the Canadian Armed Forces will also be present.
