Savor the exotic flavours of South Asia starting Monday, June 22, 2011 when the Fairmont Royal York celebrates IIFA Awards week in The Library Bar.

Named after the famous Indian film actor, director and producer of Hindi cinema, The Raj Kapoor is one of several  inspired cocktails created by Louise Cook and her bartenders just for the occasion. Call 416-860-5004 to place a reservation with The Library Bar.

To make the Raj Kapoor at home, mix:

* 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger, finely chopped
* 1 oz dry vermouth
* 2 oz Victoria Gin
* 1 oz lemon juice
* 1 oz simple syrup

Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a piece of crystallized ginger.

To make the Kashmir at home, mix:

* Saffron
* 2 oz Polar Ice Vodka
* 1 oz mango puree
* 3 oz orange juice
* 2 grinds black pepper
* 1 oz simple syrup

Muddle saffron in shaker. Shake vodka, puree, simple syrup and orange juice. Strain and pour into martini glass. Grind black pepper and garnish with a slice of mango.
