Earth Hour is a global event created by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to help raise awareness and assemble millions of people to take action on climate change. In 2008, The Fairmont Royal York was the first hotel in Toronto to register its Earth Hour participation. Each March, all 60 of Fairmont’s world-class hotels around the planet participate by turning off their lights for one hour. The event marks the unification of The Fairmont Royal York hotel with an expected 30 million people worldwide in over 4000 cities.
