Pinkies up!

From San Francisco to Shanghai, Fairmont has a long, illustrious history of serving the best Afternoon Tea in town. To celebrate the luxury hotel brand’s historic connection to this cherished tradition, Fairmont has declared Saturday, November 12, 2011 as an “official” day to pay tribute to all things tea.

Get Steeped with Fairmont festivities will go on around the world and include everything from discounts for wearing fancy hats at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and signature “Tea-quila” cocktails at The Fairmont Dallas to a multi-cultural tea celebration at The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui.

For a full listing of local Get Steeped events, tea fun facts, recipes and more, visit http://www.fairmont.com/getsteeped.

The Fairmont Royal York will be steeped in its British legacy from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the afternoon of Saturday, November 12, 2011.

The hotel salutes Fairmont’s self-declared official “Tea Day” with a Royal TEA, complete with Prince William’s grooms’ cake (a chocolate biscuit cake) plus Her Majesty’s favourite treats and an array of teas from the Commonwealth. Non-teetotallers will have the opportunity to sip a la carte on Canada’s cocktail royalty: Victoria Gin MarTEAnis.

The “Royal Tea” is $40.00 exclusive of tax and gratuities with a portion of all proceeds going to support Interval House, the hotel’s adopted shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence.

To reserve, call 416-860-5004 or email: festive@fairmont.com.

An Extra Helping of Thanksgiving Turkey

Chef Tim Palmer, EPIC

A table setting and dinner guests are all the preparation required for this Thanksgiving. For over ten years the Fairmont Royal York’s annual Turkey to Go program has been providing a seamless dinner for hosts with the most while helping those with less.

For every Turkey to Go dinner sold, Toronto’s landmark hotel will donate a turkey to the Daily Bread Food Bank.

This generous feast starts at $129 (CAD) and is available for pick up from Saturday, October 9 to Monday, October 10, 2011.

The Fairmont Royal York’s culinary brigade eases the stress of entertaining by preparing a take-out traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

Complete Turkey to Go dinners may be reserved to serve four or eight people. For a simpler fare, a traditional turkey with only stuffing and jus is also available.

The hotel’s annual Turkey to Go program also adheres to the Fairmont Royal York’s sustainable and local sourcing philosophy.

Its own rooftop garden provides the herbs used to flavour the Turkey to Go dinners. Herbs are picked hours before being added to these delicious take out dishes. Ontario growers and turkey farmers also play feature roles in the Thanksgiving menu line-up.
